hey guys welcome back to the channel today I'm going to be reviewing the best piano apps for beginners now I'm not too musical but I've wanted to learn the piano for a while now because it just looks like a fun instrument to play so I downloaded a bunch of different piano apps for Android and iPhone in order to find the best ones for beginners I then used each one to find out what was good about it and what could be improved anyway so I started learning the basics and at first first it was a bit hard but I was getting better over time I was playing really slowly at the beginning just learning the keys and where to place my fingers but once I got the hang of that which took me about a week or so everything else got a lot easier and funner soon after that I learned the music sheet then I learned how to play some of my favorite songs which I just loved that being said how do you know what is best for new users it's really up to you at the end of the day but I'll tell you what I know to help you make a good decision so this is a review of three subscription services that helped me learn to play the piano in a fun and useful way I'll tell you about simply piano sco and playground sessions I'll explain how to use them how much they cost and who might like them that way by the end of this review you'll have a good idea if any of these Services might be good for you now I have a connection with most of the companies I talk about like like simply piano sco and playground sessions but my recommendations wouldn't mean anything if I didn't give you guys my honest opinion which I always do and if at any point you want to try out any of these Services I have special affiliate discount links for you in the description down below these links give you an extra discount and give me a commission first up on our list is simply piano it's a popular app that's meant for beginners and perfect for someone like me since I'm definitely a beginner and within about 10 days I was able to play my first song with both hands something I never thought I was able to do considering how bad I've played the piano before also this piano app for Android and iPhone has a bright and fun interface that looks like it was made for kids although as a downside simply piano doesn't have a desktop or browser version but it does work with any regular acoustic piano by using the microphone on your device to hear your playing okay so the app offers lessons in piano guitar and singing with a focus on learning acoustic plus it has a unique feature called music sense that listens to your singing or playing and gives you feedback right away in order to help you get better but this system for recognizing notes isn't perfect and it might work differently on different devices now if you're just looking to get some quick practice in you can use the onscreen keyboard but for the best results you should connect an electronic keyboard using Bluetooth USB or a midi cable okay so in order to get started with simply piano you can either create an account on their website or download the app and sign in there and what's really cool is that the sign up process is quick and easy after you take a detailed quiz that asks you about your musical goals level of skill favorite type of music and whether you learn best through audio video or both and based on your answers simply piano gives you an idea of how long it'll take you to improve your piano skills now simply piano offers a limited free version that includes one course in piano Basics but in order to access other features you'll need to subscribe to their Premium plan which costs $12.50 per month and if you choose to pay for the yearly plan it's $149 now the Premium plan includes a 2E free trial letting you cancel your subscription with within the first 14 days so if for whatever reason you're not happy you can cancel plus there's a 30-day money back guarantee in case of technical problems or other issues and one thing I really like about simply piano is that they are known for giving refunds pretty quickly okay so basically the way it works is that there are about 30 courses in total and you start with a first course which teaches you the basics once you finished this course you'll have the option of choosing between between chord lessons and solo lessons the chord lessons cover pop Jazz and rock and solo lessons focus on Theory and technique with a selection of classical music also there are videos that offer a guide to each course you then practice a few bars at a time and as the music plays at the top of the screen the keys below it light up with notes then you play it all at once with a background track and music that Scrolls as you play the lessons are made to feel more like games which makes the learning a lot more fun but if you'd rather take things more seriously this app might not be the best option for you that being said simply playing the piano is a good mix of fun and learning plus to help you practice in between courses there are 5 minute workout sessions that use the onscreen keyboard and if you prefer to print out the music sheet you can use it whenever you want to play the piano again now what really impressed me most about this app is its extensive catalog of over 5,000 songs ranging from pop hits to Disney Classics and even classical pieces and every single one of these songs gets unlocked as you go through the courses which gives you plenty of choices to learn from but one drawback I found is the lack of a metronome feature and even though you can adjust the tempo of the backing track there's no option to lower or mute it which can be a bit annoying sometimes another thing I really appreciated is the active Facebook group where piano teachers offer support and Learners can communicate with each other still the app lacks live content now personally when it comes to the design I really like the colors that they used but I found the interface to be full of animations and sound effects that some users might find distracting especially since there's no option to disable them plus more experienced players might find the app a little too simple even with these limitations simply piano is an excellent tool for beginners to learn the basics of the piano and start playing pretty quickly making it especially good for kids and those who are younger at heart and again if at any point you want to try out any of these Services I have special affiliate discount links for you in the description down below these links give you an extra discount and give me a commission next is scoo which is an AI powered app for music lovers that aims to make learning the piano and guitar easy and enjoyable it uses popular songs to get you started teaching you how to read music notes and play chords as you go now the Sleek simpl to ous sco app can be accessed and used on a desktop computer tablet phone or web browser and what I really liked about sco is that it's also compatible with digital and acoustic posos and keyboards and is really simple to set up but different setups come with different outcomes so you might want to try the app's free version version first which offers you access to three beginner lessons to see if it works for you so if you decide to subscribe you have a few options the cheapest one is $150 per year which comes out to be $12.50 per month and if you decide to pay for a single month it starts at $30 and if for whatever reason you're not happy there's a 7-Day free trial and a 14-day money back guarantee okay so even though there are more than 500 lessons in the course the way they're categorized is into beginner intermediate and advanced sections but you can move on with the lessons however you see fit now there are also classes on reading music chords and scales but the best ones focus on specific Styles like jazz or blues or on specific musicians like queen or the Beatles though this app might not be for you if you enjoy playing from an original sheet of music because all their songs have been simplified versions that scoop designed for lessons plus their song library is not as big compared to some other apps all right the lesson plan is straightforward and easy to understand you start by watching and listening to a song and you'll see a teacher's hands playing the piano at the bottom of the screen while the notes are tracked above that way you can make connections between the notes you see and their sounds which will help you learn to read music in a more natural way now before you play this song with your virtual teacher who will give you immediate feedback on timing technique and expression you learn the names of the notes or whatever Theory applies to the song that being said not everyone can learn this way but if you need any help you can talk to real teachers in the app or in the community also I really liked how scoo changed the way I listen to music and taught me how to read music notes at the same time okay so what I really liked about scoo is that even though it's a simple app you can change the lesson settings to fit your style and what works best for you for example you can practice with one hand or both you can also easily change the speed with the metronome and if the real-time feedback doesn't work for you you can just turn it off finally I think scoo is a good way for beginners to learn useful piano skills so if you're a good piano player scoo might not be as complete or detailed for you but I believe even Advanced players will find it enjoyable to practice practice and learn while playing lastly we have playground sessions which stands out as an American app co-created by Quincy Jones and supported by a number of well-known musicians it's especially appealing to younger users because it's set up like a game the app's interface is bright and colorful and it always gives you feedback it does this by giving you performance ratings skill points and other game likee features that make learning more fun and what makes playground s sessions different from other apps is that it can only be used on desktops tablets or phones not in a browser so in order to use the app you need to connect a digital keyboard to your device but I found that you can use a laptop keyboard instead which is an interesting feature even though I think it's not meant for learning the piano it still works that being said one of the apps standout features is its free trial which doesn't require a credit card the sign up process is quick and easy that way you can start playing right away there's also a money back guarantee on subscription plans for up to 30 days and monthly plans cost $20 but yearly subscribers only pay $8 a month and for a one-time payment of $200 you can become a lifetime member and have access to the library of over a, popular songs for two full years okay so like in any game the app's dashboard lets you see and track your progress all in one place it shows the number of completed sections the total amount of time played and scores of how well you played each time it also gives you stars and special Awards to keep you going even though this game likee approach keeps you interested it can make you focus more on scoring than on enjoying the music itself now playground sessions boot camp gives you a structured way to learn you go from the beginner level to the intermediate level and then to the advanced level plus it gives you extra lessons Under courses to help you improve your your skills and knowledge on top of that all skill levels can find a lot of sheet music and backing tracks in the song section including royaltyfree Classics that are available for free download and printing there are also explainer videos from different real music teachers on the app and what I really liked about it is that the lessons are interactive and you get feedback in real time which is probably the best analysis of all the apps I tested now you can move forward in a clear straightforward way but there are more ways to change things like the backing track coun in finger numbers and note names that you don't see or even get to on other apps there's also a YouTube channel and a forum where members can talk to each other and ask teachers for help if they really need it so to sum it up playground sessions is an easy to ous app that gives beginners a good way to learn by providing interesting content thorough feedback and motivating rewards so if you don't mind using an acoustic piano or don't like game based learning playground sessions is a great option for keeping up with your learning because it has fun content and features that encourage you to continue improving your piano skills anyway so that'll be all for today I hope you found this review helpful and if you did please hit the like button and subscribe for more and if at any point you want to try out any of these Services I have special affiliate discount links for you in the description down below these links give you an extra discount and give me a commission and if you have any questions or suggestions feel free to drop them in
